# Theory 2 - Lab Origin

**Lab-Origin**

Someone working for an Wuhan lab became infected with an engineered version of RaTG13 (or similar) then spread it into the community.

**Evidence so far:**

- An unprecedented, super-contagious coronavirus breaks out in Wuhan - *right-next-door* to a lab that was engineering super-contagious coronaviruses.
- Exhibition of *[weird](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/09/conspiracies-covid-19-lab-false-pandemic) name-calling behaviour* from the [world’s top experts](https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)30418-9/fulltext) when questioned as to whether it may have escaped from a lab.
- [RaTG13](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2179-y) (aka BtCoV/4991), collected from the Mojiang mine, was [held at WIV](https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12250-016-3713-9), as were samples from the [infected lungs](https://jonathanlatham.net/a-proposed-origin-for-sars-cov-2-and-the-covid-19-pandemic/) of miners from the 2012 [Mojiang incident](https://jonathanlatham.net/a-proposed-origin-for-sars-cov-2-and-the-covid-19-pandemic/).
- As were another [15 000 samples of bat viruses\*](https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/04/29/847948272/why-the-u-s-government-stopped-funding-a-research-project-on-bats-and-coronaviru) - and a veritable zoo of caged passaging animals and/or virus samples from bats to macaques to mice to snakes to pangolin. (\* Edit: In late 2021 a Laos bat became new closest match at 96.7% - WIV/EcoHealth - through PREDICT - collected samples from Laos over several years)
- WIV/EcoHealth scientists declared that some of the viruses collected were [*infectious to humans*](https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/04/29/847948272/why-the-u-s-government-stopped-funding-a-research-project-on-bats-and-coronaviru).
- WIV/EcoHealth [*passaged*](https://jvi.asm.org/content/82/4/1899) candidate viruses through animals and engineered/recombined viruses through Gain-of-Function experiments to make them [more contagious](https://web.archive.org/web/20200417111436/http://english.whiov.cas.cn/News/Int_Cooperation_News/201707/W020170718313905257748.pdf).
- WIV/EcoAlliance’s [handling of bats](https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/4099020) without PPE, according to photos below (courtesy [https://twitter.com/BillyBostickson),](https://twitter.com/BillyBostickson),) looks bloody dangerous.
- [Lab accidents](https://armscontrolcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Escaped-Viruses-final-2-17-14-copy.pdf) happen - *a lot.* SARS-1 has escaped [six times](https://thebulletin.org/2014/03/threatened-pandemics-and-laboratory-escapes-self-fulfilling-prophecies/). Covid wouldn't even be the first pandemic caused by scientists. This [2010 paper](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0011184) concludes that the origin of the H1N1 pandemic was [a lab in China](https://nationalpost.com/news/a-brief-terrifying-history-of-viruses-escaping-from-labs-70s-chinese-pandemic-was-a-lab-mistake) due to *an **accidental release** of a frozen laboratory strain into the general population* in 1971.
- Bio-security at the BSL-4 WIV was [lax](https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/04/14/state-department-cables-warned-safety-issues-wuhan-lab-studying-bat-coronaviruses/) - it was worse at BSL-2 labs. Even the Global Times reported the ***discharge of laboratory materials into the sewer** after experiments without a specific biological disposal mechanism* and [*chronic loopholes at laboratories*.](https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1179747.shtml)
- [US intelligence reports](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9153885/Mike-Pompeo-reveals-intel-implicating-Wuhan-lab-origins-COVID-19-pandemic.html) saying, *researchers at the lab fell ill in the fall of 2019 with symptoms consistent with COVID-19*.
- Paper by Sorensen et al highlighting [four crucial changes](https://www.minerva.no/angus-dalgleish-birger-sorensen-coronavirus/the-evidence-which-suggests-that-this-is-no-naturally-evolved-virus/362529) to the spike protein (making it infectious to humans). They note that whereas *this part of the virus is **very stable*** in nature, these changes *can be **done simply** in a lab.*

Edit: After this was written, the most damning piece of evidence of all came to light. FOI emails obtained by Buzzfeed revealed that the scientists who wrote the notorious [Proximal Origin](https://dulandrift.formosahut.com/books/the-covid-atrocity/page/proximal-origin-of-sars-cov-2-Ebp) paper published by *Nature* (aka The Pangolin Paper), all thought Covid [*looks engineered*](https://dulandrift.formosahut.com/books/the-covid-atrocity/page/jan-31-looks-engineered). They admitted the paper was purpose-written to cover-up this probable origin scenario.
