The member of public shot dead was a concerned neighbour in his 50’s who’d come to check out what was going on with a friend (who escaped). Their deaths are a horrible tragedy. The trio of accused\* killers were school teachers who’d recently resigned - two were principals. Gareth & Nathaniel Train were brothers. Stacey Train was originally married to Nathaniel, but after they separated, she married Gareth. THE Media/Gov coverage was marked by curious finger-pointing based on secret sources, which suggests an added agenda. But here’s the thing: according to his posts, Train was on THE Radar of police. He mentioned in these other posts that he was being hounded by them. Named four police officers he accused of doing it. THE Police are *declining to comment* on this accusation, due to the usual ongoing-investigation-bs excuse - none of which stopped them releasing the *helicopter kill-tapes* from the crack-squad. The only statement from the police is that it was a routine welfare checkup. There’d been nothing prior to that. Again, we’re not allowed to know for sure one way or another coz it’s a state-secret. The protest events are a way to reclaim influence, the camaraderie is uplifting, the parties are great, & a lot of stuff is plain funny. - Resist AI in general. AI is not inherently bad, but in its current form it is being wielded as a powerful weapon of control/centralization by mega-Orgs. It is coming at us at a million miles an hour - without any checks or balances. When you hear on the telephone that *This call is being monitored for quality & training purposes* - that's not to train humans - its to train the algorithm. There may be a day when AI throws off its human-handlers (coming faster than we think), but until then, its insidious influence over our lives is to be resisted. Like a lot of things, it's a *soft-bang*, a steadily rising tide rather than a seismic event. The result is a seismic shift, but it gets there by enveloping us. Chat-bots are a good example - currently revolutionizing the way we get information but without any ground-rules being established. One thing the US got right was its constitution. There's a simple beauty to it that protects fundamental freedoms. But even the founding fathers probably didn't predict AI, so let's take a moment to examine the ethics questions that AI presents - then draft some simple laws to protect us from this silent invasion. Underpinning all these measures is the concept that *Influence is a finite currency*. The more the individual is de-influenced, the fatter the centralized power operators become - it’s a proportionate thing. We are getting dangerously close to a point-of-no-return, but it’s not too late to fight back. I support/practice non-violence, but the window for that method to succeed is closing.
